Right now, our Texas lawmakers are getting together to discuss new laws. An interesting bill that is being considered is for a presumption that parents have 50-50 access and equal rights to their children.
The current presumption is the standard possession schedule, which technically does not favor fathers or mothers. It just presumes there should be one primary parent and one parent who exercises visitation. Traditionally, this has had the effect of favoring mothers, especially those who are breast feeding. This new law would change that presumption and start a push for equality between parents who have shown the ability to act in their children’s best interest.
