Adverse WHAT? A new law went into effect in September of 2017 regarding Adverse Possession by a Cotenant Heir.

This law provides an additional alternative to obtaining a 100% interest in a piece of real property when the laws of intestacy would otherwise prohibit such. As with Adverse Possession generally, this statute is applicable in very limited circumstances and only when detailed steps are taken by the occupant of the real property.

See Section 16.0265 of the Texas Civil Practices and Remedies Code for additional information.
