Probate is a process that occurs after someone dies. The probate process involves both paperwork and court appearances and ensures that the deceased person's will is legal and valid, identifies and inventories assets, pays off creditors, and distributes assets according to the terms of the will. Because our principal attorney, Joseph E. Ashmore, Jr. has 12 years of experience as a Probate Judge, we understand the probate law from both sides and can ensure that the process goes smoothly.
A guardianship in Texas allows you to protect a loved one. It allows you the peace of mind to know your loved one has food, clothing and shelter and is taken care of. Guardianship in Texas also allows you to protect the assets of your loved one. A guardianship is a court process whereby the court appoints someone who has legal responsibility over the care and management of a person, or estate of an incapacitated individual who cannot act for himself or herself. This process should always be the last resort. If there is ever any less restrictive alternative or less costly, then that is always our first recommendation.
The Ashmore Law Firm's Attorneys also provide general Civil Litigation services in a wide variety of matters other than those listed above. These services include business and corporate litigation, IP or Intellectual Property Litigation, Contract disputes, subrogation, landlord/tenant and other civil matter disputes. We also handle transactional work and strive to provide excellence in the drafting of various business documents so as to avoid future litigation.
Mediation is a preferred method as a means to resolve disputes, before and after a lawsuit has been filed, typically saving time and money.
